This ISO standard for food safety management systems was introduced as a further international development with respect to retail driven standards. Moreover suppliers all along the food chain can rely on certification under ISO 22000 to prove to their customers in the food business that they are in compliance with the standard. Suppliers making use of ISO 22000 include producers of pesticides, fertilizers, livestock medicine, ingredients, additives, transport, storage, processing equipment, cleaning and disinfection agents, packing materials, as well as service organisations (e.g. cleaning, rodent control, temporary personnel).
ISACert was granted this RvA accreditation in 2006. The international food industry and certification bodies have affirmed the importance of this development.
